About

The Company:

Picture Listen is a Vancouver based boutique art company specializing in unique art pieces for home or office.  Our exclusive, limited edition image galleries feature the fine art photography of Christopher Guy and can be produced in a variety of styles and sizes to suit the needs of any space. Unique, hand made frames are designed and built by David Hansson. The name Picture Listen comes from the fact that we are also musicians and love projects that combine pictures and music and find ourselves increasingly interested in creating video installations that combine both arts....Picture Listen in Action!

We're are available to produce custom one of a kind artworks just for you... and we love doing LARGE format installations. How big you ask? How big you wanna go? There is literally no limit.

As much as we like selling our own art, we are also interested in inspiring others to create their own. This desire to inspire has developed into our ongoing Picture Listen photography workshops where Christopher works with participants to help them better understand their camera to start taking better & more artistic photos.

The Art:

Picture Listen Art pieces are printed with a 12 colour process using pigmented inks which produce UV resistant archival prints that will not fade unless exposed to direct sunlight for an extensive period of time.

All of the images in our galleries can be produced in four modern frameless styles - ready to hang. The choice is yours:

Taking on the look and feel of a painting, canvas prints are an increasingly popular way to display photographs. Prints are stretched on 1 1/2" stretcher bars with image wrap around the sides and come ready to hang with D-Rings and wire on the back. Choose this style for a traditional look.

2. Bamboo

We are very excited about our new eco friendly option for displaying art. Prints are mounted to these 3/4" hand sanded and stained bamboo panels to create a unique modern art piece. Wooden slats on the back of the piece float the image 3/4" from the wall. Choose this style for a natural look.

 3. Aluminum

Photos are printed on Ilford 10mil satin paper and mounted on 1/8" raw alluminum with a satin laminate to create an ultra low profile art piece. Wood Slats on the back cause the print to float 3/4" off the wall. Choose this style for a modern industrial look.

4. Acrylic

Prints are face mounted to the underside of a 1/8" acrylic (plexiglass) sheet with a 1/8" aluminum dibond backing for stability. The acrylic really make the image pop and give the piece a glossy, almost 3D look. Choose this style for a classy glass look.

The Artists:

Christopher Guy

First and foremost I am an artist. It's the only label that affords me the freedom I require as a multi faceted creator interested in exploring life and expression through a variety of mediums. Originally trained in music and recording, I became serious about photography quickly and unexpectedly in 2004 after buying a waterproof point & shoot camera and falling in love with taking pictures. I immediately felt an affinity to the craft and purchased my first DSLR within a year. I began devouring information to improve my understanding of the art and have since honed my style through years of experimenting in the field and reviewing and refining my process. I find myself constantly exploring the details of my surroundings in search of photographic opportunities and seek to capture the beauty in the magnificent and the mundane. A disciple of the decisive moment, I delight in the interaction with light itself as I explore the nature of my perception as it relates to reality.

Truth is, I do this because I have to. My heart aches amidst a photographic moment without a camera and as much as I love taking the pictures, I love printing them to behold on the wall. It's an addiction and I mainly love to sell art so that I can keep making it. I can't wait to print my next new image...so please consider supporting my habit by purchasing some Picture Listen Art to adorn your walls.
